The garboard strake (first plank) and the second plank have been removed. The sight of the exposed ribs depresses me greatly.

After fitting, the new keel is removed for painting. This task was undertaken by mastro-Lefteris Gaitaniós. Of course, the minium primer was not obtained commercially but was made by mastro-Lefteris from Lavrio minium powder mixed with linseed oil and other pure ingredients.

A single new plank replaces the garboard strake (first plank) and the second plank which were removed together with old keel.

Detail of the new plank. Also a new stainless steel bracket, fabricated by mastro-Pandelis and Nikitas, that secures the keel and the rudder post (ποδόσταμο) and also supports the rudder-pin.
